Planning product images for marketplaces and stores
Start with the product facts and the buyer’s questions. Then choose the images that answer them clearly.
Create a reliable product source
Provide the correct SKU, product name, dimensions, materials, variants and approved claims. An attractive image must still describe the actual product.
Separate image purposes
A packshot identifies the item. Detail views explain construction. Feature graphics organise benefits. Lifestyle images show context. Plan each image around a specific job.
Check the destination
Main images, gallery images, storefronts and advertising placements have different requirements. Check current platform and category rules before final production; one universal export is rarely enough.
Keep product identity accurate
Review shape, colours, labels, accessories and scale. AI-assisted backgrounds should not change the product or imply features it does not have. Synthetic imagery needs careful factual review.
Plan versions and ownership
Agree SKU counts, channel adaptations, text versions, image licensing and revision rounds. Keep an approved master and record which versions belong to each channel.
