What to prepare before sending artwork to print
Print-ready means ready for a specific printer and production method. Confirm that specification before final artwork.
Confirm the physical format
Ask for the finished size, page count, folds, binding, stock and any packaging dieline. These affect the layout before the export stage.
Get the printer’s specification
Confirm bleed, safe area, accepted file formats, colour profile, image resolution, spot colours and finishing layers. Avoid assuming that every printer needs the same settings.
Approve the content
Check company details, product codes, prices, contacts, legal text and spelling. Use an authorised final proof so changes do not get lost between versions.
Review image quality and rights
Low-quality source images limit the print result. Confirm that fonts, photographs, illustrations and other supplied material are licensed for the intended use.
Request and inspect a proof
Check a digital or physical proof appropriate to the job before the full run. Agree responsibility for the print order and sign-off; artwork preparation and manufacturing are separate scopes.
